Central Park Stadium has unveiled grand plans to celebrate National Greyhound Week this month with a bumper programme of family friendly trackside fun.
The Sittingbourne venue will kick-off the fourth annual celebration of the greyhound by handing out 200 free admission tickets to its Saturday evening fixture on August 29, where 13 live races are scheduled from 5.30pm.
Racegoers can also take advantage of a freebie on Bank Holiday Monday (August 31) with a Family Fun Day planned from 1.30pm. There’ll be children’s entertainment and an opportunity to meet retired greyhounds based with Retired Greyhounds Canterbury too.
The track will also operate a dedicated Owners Night to thank those who invest in the sport with trophy presentations organised for each race.
Dovile Skapciute, General Manager at Central Park Stadium, plans for both fixtures to draw hundreds of new racegoers trackside.
“National Greyhound Week has been a great way for tracks across the UK to showcase our sport and celebrate everything greyhound related since its launch three years ago,” said Dovile.
“Our Bank Holiday Raceday is always a real highlight on the calendar, with plenty of family friendly fun planned and a chance for racegoers to get up close and personal to the stars of the track with 12 live races too.
“Without owners, our operation simply wouldn’t be possible so we’re looking forward to our dedicated Owners Night as well and welcoming a big crowd to our Saturday fixture on August 29 by launching 200 free tickets which are available on a first come, first served, basis.
“Greyhound racing is a fantastic family and cost friendly evening out, with the greyhounds themselves at the heart of everything we do. For anyone yet to experience the thrill of the chase, National Greyhound Week is the perfect opportunity.”
Limited free admission tickets for the track’s fixture on Saturday, August 29, are available to book now. Racing begins at 5.30pm, with doors open an hour earlier.
The track’s Family Fun Day on Bank Holiday Monday kicks off at 2pm, with the first race due off at 2.36pm. Tickets are free to all racegoers when reserved in advance online.
