Unlike many greyhound stadiums, Central Park wasn't originally built as a greyhound racing venue. The stadium was constructed in 1990 as the new home of Sittingbourne FC, replacing their historic Bull Ground in the town centre. Following financial difficulties, the venue was sold and later became home to greyhound racing.
Greyhound racing officially arrived at Central Park on 3 October 1995, with the first-ever race won by Try My House. Since then, the stadium has become one of the leading greyhound racing venues in the South East.
Today, Central Park is known for hosting some of the sport's biggest competitions, including the Kent Derby and Kent Silver Salver, attracting some of the best greyhounds in the country.
With a capacity of around 6,000 spectators, trackside restaurant facilities, private hospitality suites and panoramic views of the racing, Central Park continues to provide memorable nights out for racegoers nearly 30 years after greyhound racing first arrived in Sittingbourne.
To mark 100 Years of Greyhound Racing, Central Park Greyhounds will be celebrating throughout July with a series of special centenary activities, competitions and offers as we reflect on a century of sporting history.
As part of the celebrations, we're paying tribute to the year 1926 with an exclusive dining experience available throughout July. Guests can enjoy a three-course restaurant package for just £19.26 per person, including live greyhound racing, reserved seating and a complimentary commemorative gift.
Whether you're a lifelong racing fan or visiting for the first time, there's never been a better time to experience the excitement of a night at the dogs.
Join us at Central Park as we celebrate 100 years of racing heritage and the people, greyhounds and memories that have shaped the sport over the last century.
